invisible children

Check out this video and share it!

I don’t usually post this sort of thing, but I haven’t been so moved, as I was by this video, in quite a long time. I am excited about a new kind of activism that seems to be happening in the world. People are waking up and making big changes together – changes that matter and truly do make this world a better, more peaceful place. The world state of affairs can seem so thick and hard and deeply messed up that to say “make this world a better place” almost sounded cheesy. Wrong! We need to say farewell to apathy!

KONY2012 is a campaign by Invisible Children. Joseph Kony is one of the world’s most brutal criminals, and has been at large for over 20 years (I had never even heard of him until last night!). Through this campaign, many thousands of people are contributing to the efforts to end Kony’s crimes against children – policy makers, including well knowns like Obama, Clinton, Bush; some of the most popular celebrities; and thousands of people like you and me.  The video is worth seeing. Even if you do not plan to do anything at all, it is inspiring and to the point and will shed light on a very real situation in the world, which needs to end.

    Hi Abby,
Thank you for your posting. We have been watching the video too.
Last year, my son raised money for IC at his high school .
Last year and again this year, students at my high school are raising funds for IC, choosing to be silent for 25 hours – an amazing feat for teenagers…
I am so humbled by the actions of my HS students and that of my own children. They want to make a difference, and they are taking action. With all the bad things that are happening in the world, I feel there is a glimmer of hope when kids really care about the welfare of kids on the other side of the world.
Not all is right in the world, but there is hope…
    Thank you for caring-
    GP
