Some time back (October 2010), we brought a couple cuttings home from our parents’ hydrangea bushes (I talked about this a little bit here<\/em><\/a>, too).\u00a0The first photo above shows 4 cuttings, but that was an experimental division of each of the 2 cuttings I took, into 2 parts (the experiment didn’t work and the lower portions eventually withered away). The top portion of one of the 2 main cuttings did<\/em> make it though, and this year it is clearly holding it’s own!<\/p>\n

I have read that hydrangea doesn’t usually do very well in the house, so it spent this past winter on our deck, sheltered from the weather. It started putting on it’s new green leaves a few weeks ago, and has been growing like crazy ever since. I just recently transplanted it to a larger pot. Once we create the next deer-free zone, I will put it in the ground. So satisfying to see this bush growing so healthy.<\/p>\n
